Wout Berger, talks about his solo exhibition ‘Tide in / Tide out’ in ZERP Gallery (zerp.nl/tide, opening this Sun. 24/01, 1500 hr): “The photos depict water, reed, bushes, a horizon and other elements from a landscape. However, I do not consider myself as a landscape photographer. The nature in all its appearances has no empathy and in itself has no meaning. We provide its characteristics, such as romantic, boring or depressing. Wind, light and time fascinate me and these photos are the result of an attempt to capture these elements. Wind, light and time are elements of which we only know its indirect appearances. You cannot see the wind, but you can see the wave. You cannot see the light, but you can see the cloud capturing the light or the sparkle in the water. You cannot see the time, but you can experience time passing."
